As anyone who has kept a vegetable plot will know, Cornwall’s mild damp climate is ideal for an abundance of Slug species and many Snails too.Of the 120 or so species of non-marine Molluscs recorded for Cornwall only 50 or 60 could be considered common whilst many of them are very rare and some may be extinct. (For more details see the Land and Freshwater Molluscs of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, by Stella Turk et al).

There are BAP Species to discover as well as indicators of specific habitat types.Keith Alexander is a freelance invertebrate ecologist who will guide us through the basic ecology, identification and survey techniques.
