Volunteer Positions
Volunteers are a vital, everyday element to the operations of ERCCIS. We have an amazing team of volunteers, but are always looking for people to help us in our work. ERCCIS understands the reasons why people volunteer are many and varied and would like to get people involved in a way that will make it a mutually rewarding and enjoyable experience. Volunteering for ERCCIS is an excellent way of making contacts with those involved in nature conservation and will build key skills which can be used to develop your career.
We are currently very keen to hear from you if you have experience in working with Geoservers &/Or building web mapping portals or if you have experience of aerial photo interpretation and would like to volunteer for ERCCIS.
The work at ERCCIS is varied so no matter what your skill base we are interested to hear from you. If you would like to volunteer current work that you could be assisting with includes; computerising wildlife records for the ERCCIS database; assisting the Wildlife Information Service; helping to manage the ERCCIS website; validating species records; various GIS projects; helping to write an "introduction to" species guide; working with an ERCCIS Project Officer and many other potential tasks!
We provide full training for any of the tasks and we ask that volunteer commit to at least one half day per week. A geographical knowledge of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly is an advantage. Most of the ERCCIS work is undertaken during office hours; therefore, it is not possible to volunteer during evenings and weekends.
If you are interested in volunteering for ERCCIS or would like more information, please contact Martin Goodall on (01872) 273939 ext 241.
