ERCCIS hold nearly 3,000,000 species records, which thanks to the dedicated recorders of the county is increasing all the time. ERCCIS works to disseminate information about the biological state of the county with the aim of increasing the understanding of natural history in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Working with our volunteers we have started to produce a series of introduction guides. These guides will look at the data held by ERCCIS for a specific species group, for example the Spiders (Araneae) and the Dragonflies and Damselflies (Odonata).
The aim of the introduction guides is to help you to start recording and to introduce the species group. Each guide holds basic information on what we currently know about the group, how extensively they are recorded, the current known distribution and where you can get further help.
We hope that these guides will help encourage recording and initiate further work to increase our understanding of the natural history of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, for the benefit of all. The ERCCIS introduction guides are produced with the hard work of our volunteers and are available to download for free from this link.
If you have a species group of interest and would like to suggest an introduction guide please contact us here.
